The West Midlands
The West Midlands Region comprises Birmingham and many outstanding surrounding counties such as Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire. Good transport links in to the city centre make living in the surrounding counties very feasible with only a short daily commute. Alternatively, if you choose to work locally, there are many excellent full service commercial firms and niche practices outside of the Birmingham centre.
Whereas Birmingham can boast the Bullring and Selfridges, Solihull in the West Midlands can boast of the Touchwood shopping destination and John Lewis! Notable firms to watch here include Sydney Mitchell and Harris Cooper Brownings.
Down the M40 in Warwickshire there is a strong clutch of regional firms including Shakespeares in Stratford-upon-Avon and Wright Hassall in Leamington Spa. Also Harrison Clark in Worcester has a strong commercial practice.
Across in the manufacturing heartland or the black country, so named because of its industrial past, are leading firms Higgs & Son, George Green and FBC Manby Bowdler. These areas also afford excellent tram links in to Birmingham. Looking further up the M6 to Staffordshire historically well known for the potteries and more recently being home to Alton Towers, there are firms such as Knights Solicitors and KJD Freeth, also strong full service practices.
Shropshire is home to the famous town of Ironbridge and offers glorious countryside along the borders of England and Wales. The town of Shrewsbury on the river severn has leading firms such as Lanyon Bowdler and Hatchers Solicitors.
The West Midlands Region can certainly offer excellent quality of work alongside a great quality of life. Situated in the middle of the country you are within easy reach of most major transport links.
